Where to even start on what to say about Jax?

The two of them have a complicated history, from their time in the circus to the present day, with a certainty to continue into the foreseeable future. Jax is complicated, difficult, allergic to feelings, and sincerity makes him nauseous. He's also clever, observant, loyal, unbelievably thoughtful when he puts his mind to it, and a genuinely beautiful person. The two of them fight hard, harder than anyone Pomni's ever fought with in her entire life. But they love three times as deep, and the trust they have can't be understated. Pomni's not sure what she'd do without him, even if she's had to consider it more than once.

Jax is a very troubled person. Sometimes seeing him through that pain is hard. But it's worth it to love him, and Pomni is never going to give up on him.

Ragatha!

Pomni hasn't always been the most receptive to Ragatha's attempts to be supportive, but she won't deny that Ragatha's always been there for her. No matter how bad things get, Ragatha's always trying to stay positive, and even though that's not always the most helpful thing to do, it takes a lot of strength that Pomni can appreciate. She admires it, even. There's gotta be a reason why Ragatha's made it this far. If only she'd just let herself be frustrated, or tired, or hurt, or anything besides the pillar of positivity. Pomni can't help but harbor some anxiety about a day coming when those tight-laced seams finally start to wear out.

Still, Ragatha definitely seems to get something out of taking care of other people, even if that's just a bit of escapism. Something to worry about and care for other than her own troubles. And it's nice to be cared for by someone who genuinely wants to do it. The way Pomni sees it, the best thing she can do is appreciate it openly and reciprocate it to the best of her ability. (If Ragatha lets her, that is.)

In a moment of grief-induced FOMO, Pomni admitted to loving Ragatha so as to not miss another opportunity to do so, but without really defining in what way. Platonic, found family--- something else? At the time, it felt like the only thing to do, but now, in the absence of a defined relationship, Pomni had some regrets at the time about popping that exact verbiage on her so soon. It was true, but saying so without fully understanding it created some unnecessary complications and difficult feelings that took a whole new crisis to work through. Thankfully they have since worked through all of that, though, and it ultimately ended up for the best.

Kinger!

When the stress of the Circus got to be too much for Pomni, when she hit what at the time felt like rock bottom, Kinger was there for her. Since then, he's been a consistent source of comfort--- even when Kinger himself can't really remember or understand why. None of this has to be pointless as long as there are people who care about Pomni, and she'll never forget that she has them---- and she'll always strive to be that for others as well. Taking Kinger's words to heart has only proven to be more and more important as time has gone on.

It's hard to think that Kinger blames himself for what happened, especially when, to Pomni's mind, it sure looks like he's the one who got them out. Out of the frying pan and into the fire? Maybe. But at least most days seem better, with the increased freedom and sense of normalcy. Besides, if anyone set off the events that ended things forever, it was Pomni herself. Not that saying so will convince Kinger. Still, Pomni feels much better with him here than not. And she'll make sure he knows how grateful she is for all that he's done for her and everyone else. Pomni won't let Kinger forget that he's just as loved and wanted as anyone else.

Gangle!

Upon reflection, Gangle isn't someone that Pomni had much opportunity to get to know directly in the Circus. That isn't to say Pomni doesn't like her--- there's very few negative things that Pomni can think to say about Gangle. She's a sweet, creative, well-meaning, cute person who deserves better than what she's had and is always trying her best. Even if there are situations where her best is a little bit limited by the turbulence of her emotions. It's just that she and Pomni haven't had as many opportunities for direct connection. And there's already been a few motions to change that. Gangle's a good friend.

Zooble!

Zooble's another member of the Circus that Pomni didn't get a whole lot of one on one time with while in it, but they're an incredibly interesting person. Jax picks on their colorful and mixed history and their too-cool-to-care attitude, but Pomni can't help a bit of admiration towards them. Zooble's the type of queer Pomni would've liked to be if she was like, 20% less boring and 80% less anxious. Despite their young age, they've lived a ton of life, and despite their initial standoffishness, Zooble's proven to be a profoundly kind and insightful person. Plus, the whole "whipping out guns with all four arms and bursting out of their room in a blaze of glory" thing was beyond cool. What a dope person.

Caine!

ex-ringleader || wish you the best, but away from me || no-contact

Caine made a valiant attempt at an apology, but Pomni doesn't have anything to say to him right now. Maybe she won't ever again. But Kinger seems to feel bad about what happened to him, and Caine's actions didn't ultimately mean Kinger got left in the Circus alone, so... maybe she'll change her mind.

Not yet, though.

Richard!

Met at the Swift Social, Pomni and Richard spent a good long while chatting about religion and how it impacted their respective worlds. Seems like both of their worlds are wildly different than the current one, and his seems particularly menacing.

While they haven't had much time to talk at length since then, Pomni sees Richard around, especially when the Bizzyboys are working on something near the bank or when Pomni visits Jax at work. He seems skittish, but then again, so does Pomni. They can be two peas in an anxious pod.

Edgar!

fire starter || ceremonial hall ex-pat || like-minded friend

While working in the ceremonial hall under Aster's control, Pomni didn't really notice too many of the others in specific, but when Jax got... hurt, and Pomni and Ragatha had a limited window to try to get him out of further harm's way, someone stopped the demoness Claunthe from chasing them with a burst of fire, and Pomni promised to never forget that person's face. Now she's run into him again, and it turns out they have a lot to talk about. And he's Jax's metamour through North, apparently? She'd say it's a small world, but it really is a small town on an island, huh.

Either way, Edgar seems like a cool person with a lived experience that Pomni would never envy, but she can appreciate all the insight it's given him. Talking to him has been nice so far, and more than that, she'll never, ever forget what Edgar did for Jax during all that. They wouldn't have been able to get to safety if it weren't for him. He has also offered to swear on Pomni's behalf, which is hilarious.

South!

cleared the air || not quite friends yet || seems alright

When Pomni initially met South, they had a decent conversation, and it was looking like they'd be getting along pretty well. But then she went and hit Jax so hard that it broke his face. And while Pomni would be a hypocrite if she couldn't understand getting into a fist fight with Jax once in a while, the severity of it didn't sit well with her, to the point where Pomni and South had an argument of their own. Since then, South has cleared the air with both Jax and Pomni herself, and it seems like things are better now. Her support when times got particularly rough was undeniably valuable.

Spamton!

Spamton decided that because Pomni looks a little bit like him, is also involved in finance, and is also a little digital clown-like thing with a #FFFFFF complexion, that they should be family. He forged documents to legalize this completely unneccessarily, creating a bit that has rapidly evolved into something almost not a bit. Almost. He gives her free samples of whatever experimental products that he's trying to create for the weird Burger King replica that someone built for some reason, which is fun.

Palamedes!

His nickname is Pal for a reason--- so far, he's a really cool person to have as a friend. They met through Pomni's work at the bank and quickly found that they liked chatting, both of them having an affinity for learning. They're still getting to know each other, but so far so good! They've even started playing D&D together!

He also appears to be one of the island's handful of necromancers from a specific post-apocalyptic world. Pomni was already aware of this via Harrowhark and John, the latter of which Palamedes seems to have some pretty serious beef with. Wonder what that's about?
